The eighth annual British Animation Film Festival will be held at the newly renovated Cineworld in Leicester Square!

 

The festival aims to highlight the best in British and International animated entertainment. This will be an incredible opportunity to see some of the brightest up and coming animators in the world and the work they are producing. The festival will be screening a diverse selection of animation from around the world throughout the evening!

Nestled deep among the coral reefs of the seabed, a lonely Octopus toils away in his underwater workshop. REZZ has been sending him messages in bottles containing blueprints to help him construct an EXONAUTILUS - a huge fish like flying machine, so that he may join her on the planet Neptune!

An adventurous young girl named Penwyn, running away from her worrisome dad on the coast of South Wales, stumbles across a talking Blue Footed Booby bird, going by the name Mister Booby, distraught his chicks are flying the nest. On the hunt for adventure, Penwyn follows him as he rushes off in search of his chicks to the mysterious and wonderful world of

the clouds in this charming and heartfelt

watercolour-animated story.

'Flâneur' is an animated short that captures an experience of wandering through the city at night, against the vibrant backdrop of artificial light as it emanates from pubs and club doorways. Each scene is based on an observational drawing from time spent documenting London at night, bringing the film into a contemporary setting.

They Hunt

In a world filled with monsters sits a heavily protected diner. A young, outgoing waitress works there for her uncle, the chef. She sees that their monsterous food supply is at an all time low. So she decides to take matters into her own hands and prove that she’s not a kid anymore. Driving off into the desert on the hunt she ends up biting off more than she can chew, unleashing a whole host of trouble.

Based on True Events; Jason, the oldest of two boys loves his home but battles with wanting to change the deteriorating community and the desire to leave it behind. Tension turns to anger as Jason and his brother John battle over the decision to embrace the drug culture while simultaneously endangering John's daughter. Her symbolic gesture will change the future of the family and change her father’s SUBSTANCE.

The Penguin Who Couldn’t Swim is an animation about disability – in fact it is about a disabled Penguin. A Penguin who lives on a rocky island in the southern seas where she feels isolated from the rest of her colony. It is an animation about disability, made by a disabled animator.

Three Sketches takes a novel approach to storytelling, giving the viewer an extended stay in three locations. As our senses immerse in the manifold details, events seem to repeat themselves in a chronologically dysfunctional way. The viewer is encouraged to draw their own conclusions.

Martin the Mushroom was born on the wrong rock. The mushrooms on his rock look like him, but they don’t share the same enthusiasm. When he notices another rock across the sea and realizes that although those mushrooms look different, they share his passion for life. Martin journeys to the other rock, but is rejected by a native mushroom because he looks different. And so begins Martin’s epic journey to find his place in life.
