The eleventh annual British Animation Film Festival will be held at the Close-Up Cinema in Shoreditch amazing selection of animated films.
The festival aims to highlight the best in British and International animated entertainment. This will be an incredible opportunity to see some of the brightest up and coming animators in the world and the work they are producing. This year's festival is an amazing selection of animation from around the world!

The Lotte Reiniger List
The Film Festival Guild Lotte Reiniger List is for screenplays of outstanding quality.
This list is named in honour of Lottie Reiniger, the first person to create an animated feature film.
These pieces are up for both the title of Best Unproduced Screenplay as well as
four Runners-Up positions.

A Different Drum
(Ali Sofi, 3m)
The music video emphasizes the contrast between nature and man-made pollution, while cleverly using overlays to encourage understanding of our proximity to the earth and responsibility. Concluding on an optimistic note and a burst of vibrant colour, both artists believe in the capacity for change and a restorative future.

Abandoned
(Emilia Schneider, 5m)
Within the reminiscent setting of an abandoned swimming pool, two siblings are faced with their childhood trauma. Twisted emotions, long banished to the watery depths of the pool floor are about to resurface.

An old gardener must teach a rude teenager a lesson on his way home from his allotment.

On an isolated island, a boy is haunted by his recurring nightmares of the sea, which now start to bleed into his waking hours. The more he ignores his visions, the more aggressively they plague him, until ultimately, he must face his fear head on.


Melancolia

Change is something that comes whether you search for it or not. When a nymph loses her ability to fly, the change that was forced upon her requires a complete transformation: she must let go of her yearning for the past and become something new, a being unconstrained by the limitations of her past.

Animated music video to accompany the song 'Moondivers' by Dreams In Total Darkness.
A distant race known as Mooneyes make a pilgrimage to ensure the future of their peoples.

Roots

In a green metropolis far away lives a plant spirit called Clay whose daily work routine had become such a monotonous one that he felt he had to find a new direction & branch out - before his life becomes pot bound.
Clay is left questioning where he is heading in life. But after reconciling with his roots, he learns a new understanding of what it means to feel alive.

A man follows deer prints through the snowy landscape of the Lake District, but the situation might not be as clear cut as it seems.

Needles are used to repair damage. Stay is a 5-minute animated film made using hand embroidery on tracing paper, depicting the relationship between a daughter and her absent father. Don’t forget to spend more time with the people you love even though you are busy.

A brother and sister’s reunion picnic at a stone circle in the English countryside is disrupted by the arrival of an uninvited guest.

Summer Years

The film follows a teenage girl, Ellie, who is spending a summer day with her friends. However, it is revealed that these are just memories, and Ellie must confront the fear and pain she has from the loss of that time.

True Colours

Meeting an old friend in a coffee shop, we follow Nezumi’s internal and external battle of emotions and feelings and how she get consumed by them as she’s being triggered by the words of her interlocutor.

Why Do Butchers Close So Early is a film written by Geronimo Bennington-Poulter and directed by Inez Skilling. Told through 2D Animation, it is the story of a butcher consumed by the horror of his trade. Yet, through the sinister monologue, can a different, perhaps even more unsettling tale be unpicked?
